Opened over three decades ago, the world-renowned family entertainment venue is actually three theme parks in one – Universal Studios Florida, Universal’s Islands of Adventure, and Universal’s Volcano Bay water park. Themed around the entertainment industry, each offers a vast number of rides, attractions and live shows, inviting guests to immerse themselves in the worlds of movies and television. There are a significant number of online vendors selling tickets to the park, many of which offer great deals and discounts, as well as popular add-ons such as combined hotel stays and fast-track queuing. To help you work through the options, we’ve picked out two of the best.

Orlando Vacation

Founded in 1993, Orlando Vacation are a family-run business and our favourite pick for purchasing Universal Studios tickets. All you do is enter the dates you want to visit and then choose the type of ticket you want, with one or two-day options available, as well as options for visiting just a single park or all three. As for the cheapest time to go, on weekdays discounts seem to be a little more generous than on weekends. Orlando Vacation also promise to save you money by selling park tickets for the price they are at the time of your reservation. This is because the parks usually raise prices two to three times a year, often rising by up to 8%. Finally, another tip is that if you’re getting a multiple day ticket, you don’t have to use the tickets on consecutive days.

Orlando Vacation also specialise in combo packages that include park tickets together with your local accommodation, with these deals almost always cheaper than booking the two separately. Using their custom package builder, you enter your dates of travel and the number of adults and kids in your party. The tool will then show you the hotels and vacation home rentals available for your travel dates. Then, once you’ve selected your lodging, the tool walks you through selecting the theme part tickets that are best for you.

Tripster

An alternative option for visitors to Universal Studios seeking hotel + ticket bundles, Tripster are market leaders in US vacation package deals. They offer a wide range of packages that combine hotel stays with tickets to Universal, which can often work out a lot cheaper than buying them separately from one another. For example, when we searched for combined ticket and hotel packages, we found deals starting at $1,742 based on a family of 4 staying for 2 weeks in a mid-range resort hotel and accessing the park for 2 days – representing a $199 saying, according to the website. To help travellers identify the best prices available, the website offers a price comparison service, as well as customer reviews. The site is simple to navigate, and the booking process is straightforward too. For those concerned about mislaying paper tickets, e-tickets are also available.

For many, getting back to nature is a calling fulfilled by camping. Yet, even modest tent or grand RV campers may feel the need to escape the heat. A portable AC unit can be the cooling effect needed for a great camping experience.

Photo: Honeywell 9000

In the world of air conditioners there are basically four categories. Rooftop air conditioners are usually permanently installed, require a lot of space, and although powerful can make a lot of noise. Vent free air conditioners, a.k.a. swap coolers, employ the process of evaporation to force cool air into the space and may not be suitable for all environments. Window air conditioners are installed outside of a window and do not work well with the camping lifestyle. Portable air conditioners are usually compact, easy to install and move, and perfect for RV and tent campers.

There are some things to consider when shopping for an AC unit to use on the next camping adventure. Electricity is key and AC units should match the usual 5–16-amp hook-ups at the camp site. Keep the area peaceful by considering the noise the machine emits and avoid units over 70 dBA. Campers will have to lug the AC unit around, so choose a unit with a manageable weight. As with all AC units, portable units display the amount of cooling effect in BTUs and BTU output should always match the size of the space being cooled; overcooling can result in reduced functionality of the unit.

OUR PICK: Honeywell MN12CES

As attractive as it is powerful, this portable AC unit can quickly cool up to 550 sq. ft of space at the simple touch of a remote. This unit’s ability to double as a dehumidifier and remove up to 66 pints of moisture in a day is an advantage for those camping in high humidity locations. When cooling, the Honeywell MN12CES runs on a self-evaporation system and is equipped with a trademarked Smart Digital Thermostat System allowing for energy savings. A washable filter is designed to protect from dust and hair to extend product life and performance. MN12CES comes with an optional window vent and rolls easily on four casters. The machine is quiet, easy to use, and compact compared to similar units.

SPACE SAVER: NASUM Personal Space Air Cooler

When it comes to tent friendly portable AC units the NASUM Personal Air Conditioner is lightweight and compact. This unit weighs in at just under 2 pounds and comes with a convenient carry handle. The battery-powered device uses water and ice cubes to cool a small space without the need to plug in. Battery life allows the unit to run steadily for approximately 8 hours and can be recharged via USB port. Environmentally minded campers enjoy this unit’s small carbon footprint. The cooler has three speed settings, high, medium, and low, and can function as an air purifier if run without ice.

Buy at Amazon.com

ENERGY SMART: Honeywell 9000

When considering the pros of the Honeywell 9000, energy saving rises to the top. The unit will cool a space of up to 400 sq. ft. using automatic vertical wind motion. Settings can be customized with included remote control to utilize three fan speeds, a sleep mode, and a 24-hour energy saving timer. This unit also serves as a dehumidifier by consuming up to 80 pints of liquid per day. Owners appreciate this unit’s ease of installation and durability. The 9000 is also a top pick among pet owners who enjoy the system’s dual dust filter. Regular maintenance is required for this quiet, energy conscious machine.

Buy at Amazon.com

QUIET: Hisense 6000

Simple and quiet, the Hisense 6000 emits enough cool air to chill a 250 sq. ft. space. A quiet compressor and centrifugal fan design provides peaceful operation, 47 dB on low. This unit has only three settings, cooling, fan, and dehumidifier. The unit is fully programable with a 24-hour timer and can be remote operated. It also has an auto shut-off feature for energy savings. Dimmable digital controls make this unit great for sleeping areas. Users appreciate the Hisense 6000’s easy set up but note the unit may take longer than others to cool larger spaces. The unit’s compact size makes it perfect for small campers or rental cabins.

Buy at Amazon.com

VALUE: SereneLife SLPAC8

When it comes to bang for the buck, the SereneLife SLPAC8 is a clear winner. It is bigger and heavier than most portable AC units but looks slim and stylish, perfect for an RV. Cooling a space of 215 sq. ft. takes only a few minutes using the automatic swing mode with moving wind vent for maximum air circulation. This unit also serves as a dehumidifier by processing 60 pints of liquid per day. The system has four modes, cooling, heating, dehumidifier, and fan, which can all be accessed by remote. Sleep mode lowers the noise from the motor. The SereneLife SLPAC8 is hundreds of dollars less than comparable models.

From its sun-kissed beach to its mouth-watering tapas bars, Barcelona is a city full of temptation. But a number of people come here with more studious intentions, driven by the promise of learning to speak Spanish.

Barcelona (Photo: D Jonez / Unsplash)

Barcelona has a huge number of language schools that teach Spanish, with all kinds of courses available, including evening courses, fast-track courses and even specialised courses for children. We’ve dug deep and picked out five of the best language schools the city has to offer.

If you’re flying out of Orlando Airport and need to leave your car nearby for short or long term, there are several economy parking spots within easy reach that will save you money.

A car park at Orlando Airport (Photo: Josh Hallett via Flickr / CC BY 2.0)

Situated 6 miles southeast of downtown, Orlando International Airport is the state of Florida’s busiest airport hub. The daily rates for parking at the airport start at $10 per day, and long term parking rates start at $133 per week, with a maximum stay of 45 days. However, by using an off-airport parking lot, you can often save an impressive 40-60% on official parking rates at MOC. We’ve picked out three such parking options, all of which we recommend booking via Spothero.com, where you’ll always find the cheapest deals.

Marriott Lakeside

Located on the site of a hotel, this is one of the cheapest parking lots near Orlando Airport, It offers uncovered short or long term parking near the airport for rates starting at just $5.47 per day. Open 24/7, there’s a free shuttle service that runs throughout the day and night to take customers and their luggage directly to the airport just over a mile away. On-site staff are also on hand at all times to help with any enquiries. At this facility, you have up until the minute your reservation begins to cancel your parking for a full refund.

Book at Spothero

Renaissance Orlando Airport Hotel

Another car park positioned on hotel grounds, this facility is ideal for those who want the convenience of having their car parked for them, with uncovered valet parking available for rates of $6.74 per day and upwards. Open 24/7, a complimentary shuttle bus transports car owners on the 1.5-mile journey to the airport, which usually takes around 5 minutes depending on traffic, with departures every 30 minutes. You can get all your money back if you cancel your booking prior to the reservation time commencing.

Book at Spothero

Park Bark and Fly

Our final recommendation is this facility, which can be found 2.5 miles from the airport and offers uncovered self-parking for daily rates starting at $8.58. A free shuttle service is available on demand, 24/7, and takes customers to the airport terminals in around 4 minutes. On-site staff are available to help customers at all times. As with our previous suggestions, you have up until the minute your reservation starts to cancel your parking for 100% of your money back.

For visitors unfamiliar with the city, finding an affordable place to park in downtown Denver can be a tricky business – so here are some handy hints to help you.

A street in downtown Denver (Photo: hans-juergen via Flickr / CC BY-ND 2.0)

The options for short-term parking in downtown Denver mainly come down to metred street parking or dedicated garages. There are a large number of metered street parking spaces available, with most enforced from 10pm to 6am, Monday to Saturday, priced at $1 per hour until 2am and 50 cents from 2am-6am. Parking between 6 am and 8 am, and all day on Sundays, is free of charge . During charged times, you can park overnight at the same metered spot from 10pm to 8am for $6.

Alternatively, if you prefer the security of off-street covered parking and don’t mind paying that bit extra,  there are several multi-storey car parks and covered garages in downtown Denver offering pre-bookable short term parking.  Our top suggestion is 400 15th St. – Tremont Garage, where you’ll pay $3 for every 30 minutes, with a daily maximum charge of $16.00. Of if you’re driving into downtown for an evening, then you can park here from 4am to 5pm for $7. Another garage we’d recommend is 1650 Logan St. – Lot, where you can pay a flat rate of just $10 for all day parking , or $5 for overnight parking.

You can book both garages on Spothero.com, as well as at several other parking lots in downtown Denver.

Free parking in downtown Denver

While downtown Denver doesn’t have any designated free parking garages, there are limited free parking spaces available at the edge of downtown near Confluence Park and Commons Park. From here, you can either get a bus into the heart of downtown, or use the cash you’ve saved on parking to jump in a taxi, and do the same to return to your car later. Alternatively, as mentioned above, metered parking between 6 am and 8 am, and all day on Sundays, is free of charge across downtown.

Long-stay parking in downtown Denver

If you’re staying in Denver for an extended period, but don’t have any private parking at your accommodation, it may be cheaper for you to find a long-term parking spot, rather than scouring the city for metred parking each day or paying daily rates in a garage which can stack up to hundreds of dollars. So, for example, at 1735 Stout Street Garage on the fringes of the central business district, day rates are $18, but monthly rates start at just $215 – a saving of around $10 per day.

For the best parking rates in downtown Denver, go to Spothero.com.

If you’ve missed out in the public ballot and don’t fancy joining the large queues on match day, your best bet for purchasing Wimbledon tennis championships tickets is buying them from registered debenture holders.

A packed centre court at Wimbledon (Photo: Rian (Ree) Saunders via Flickr / CC BY 2.0)

Debenture holders pay a (hefty) up-front fee to guarantee reserved seats for a set number of days’ play, along with other privileges such as exclusive lounge and restaurant access, and the chance to buy tickets for the final days of the tournament. However, debentures are also the only Wimbledon tickets that can be legally resold, allowing people to purchase tickets from debenture holders on days they’re unable to attend themselves. Resold debenture tickets often trade for significantly over their issue price, but if you’re willing to pay for the privilege, then it’s a reliable way of securing tickets. There are a number of ways to buy debenture tickets, and here are three of the best.

Viagogo

Viagogo is a highly reputable peer-to-peer ticket resale and exchange platform and our favourite pick for finding Wimbledon debenture tickets. The website is easy to use and if you book more than one ticket, the seats are guaranteed to be alongside each other, so you won’t be separated from your family or friends. Tickets can be issued electronically to be stored on your phone or printed, so you don’t need to worry about them getting lost in transit.

When it comes to availability, during our search for tickets, we found a wide selection on offer, with prices starting at around £1,260 for a match on Court 1 in the early stages of the tournament. However, for more prestigious clashes on Centre Court, especially as the competition reaches its climax, prices start to climb significantly, with tickets for the Final available for pushing £6,000. Buyers should also be aware that there are some add-on costs, including having to pay 20%-30% of the total ticket price in fees.

Book at Viagogo.co.uk

Wimbledon Debenture Holders

Established back in 2006, the Wimbledon Debenture Holders agency is one of the most reputable resources for buying Wimbledon tickets on the secondary market – and is widely acknowledged as offering the best seats available at the world-famous tournament. Those who hold debenture receive their tickets in May each year, and then pass them on to the official Wimbledon Debenture Holders channels to manage and process them being resold. This also ensures that tickets can be verified before they are passed on, eliminating the risk of fakes, which is not always the case with peer-to-peer websites. Resold tickets can be purchased online or on the telephone, and are delivered to customers by early June.

Book at Wimbledondebentureholders.com

StubHub International

A peer-to-peer online ticket exchange service, StubHub International allows you to buy resold tickets for sporting and entertainment events across the globe. Sellers can price tickets as they choose, but usefully the website lets you view the face value cost of each ticket so you can compare. Buyers can request for tickets to be delivered physically, as print-at-home, or directly to your mobile as e-tickets. When we searched for Wimbledon debenture tickets, we found options starting at £418 for a day’s play, rising up to £4,750 for tickets to the Final. Additional fees for service, delivery and VAT tended to be around £100 per ticket, but to avoid you getting caught out, there’s a slider that lets you see the full cost before you book. StubHub also offers a FanProtect Guarantee policy.

Granada is one of the most attractive Spanish cities for those seeking to learn the native language – in part because only speak Castellano is spoken here, rather than the Basque or Catalan dialects spoken in much of the north. It is also home to the largest university in Spain, ensuring the city enjoys a youthful energy, enhanced by a large community of European exchange students. To help you plan your overseas studying adventure, we’ve selected three of the best Spanish language schools in Granada.

Academia Contacto

Opened in 2001, Academia Contaco offer courses in a number of cities across Spain. All of their schools are accredited by the Cervantes Institute Network and students can choose from a wide range of courses for all levels, from absolute beginner to proficiency. Classes take place in small groups, and are designed to be dynamic and interactive. Teachers are native speakers specialised in teaching Spanish as a foreign language. The Granada school is located in the heart of the city – within 100 metres of the famous cathedral and historic centre – and features six spacious, modern classrooms, each fitted with projectors and air conditioning. Other amenities include coffee and tea facilities, a library, computers, and a lounge area with sofas. The school also offers accommodation services and regular activities and excursions, including guided city walks, museum and theatre trips, wine and tapas nights, film screenings, Spanish literature workshops and talks and readings on social, political or historical topics.

They offer a wide range of courses catering to all needs, whether for University students, teenagers or retired people. On-site services and facilities include a welcome folder for all students, a study room, a library, and computers. To enhance the learning experience and your time in Granada, they also run daily activities (included in the course price) that let you experience the cultural reality of Spain and Andalusia and create different contexts in which you can practise your Spanish. Among these are city guided tours, workshops on topics such as writing, phonetics and music, debated on current events, and Spanish history and cultural lessons. Additional excursions are also available for an added price, such as museum visits, tapas tours, and cooking lessons.

Part of the University of Granada, the Modern Languages Centre is accredited by the Cervantes Institute Network and is widely considered one of the leading institutions in Spain for language learning. Open to both university students and outsiders, the centre boasts a wide range of services, a wealth of learning resources, and a wide programme of extracurricular activities designed to reinforce students’ cultural and linguistic immersion. General Spanish language courses for foreign students and academic Spanish courses are all offered here. Native Spanish students and international students can also interact via a language exchange service, allowing you to practice the language you’re learning outside of class time. On-site facilities include a library stocked with teaching and learning materials, and several refectories and coffee shops. The centre also has its own Accommodation Service, catering to a wide range of options including hotels and hostels, living with a local family, student residences, apartment and flat-shares.

With its prime setting on the Côte d’Azur, home of the iconic Grand Prix, and within easy cruising distance of other famous destinations such as St Tropez, Cannes, Nice, Antibes, and the Italian Riviera, Monaco has been a favourite with the yachting set for decades. There are a wide number of companies offering yacht charters in Monaco, and while many of those offered will be out of reach of the average folk, price wise, there are still some options that won’t break the bank. To help you find your Monaco yacht charter, we’ve picked out three of the best companies around.

Ritzy Charters

Established in 2012, Ritzy Charters is an agency for arranging yacht rental charters across the world – with a strong focus on crewed yachts. The company offers nearly 100 vessels in the South of France and Italian Riviera across several categories, including motorboats, sailing boats, and catamarans, as well as the pinnacle of luxury yacht charters aboard superyachts. The booking process is simple too – all you do is fill in a query form with some necessary details, including number of guests, travel dates, itinerary and special requests, then you ask for a quote and wait for the company to send back a list of available yachts for your dates and criteria.

Click&Boat

With tens of thousands of vessels available for hire worldwide, Click & Boat are a major player in the peer to peer yacht charter sector. Owners can create a free listing for their boat and renters are then invited to contact them directly to discuss further. While bareboat rentals are the most affordable option, some boats also come with captain onboard if you’re willing to pay the extra cost. In Monaco, we found over 100 boat rentals available, with prices starting at $208 per day for a 11.5-metre sailing boat, not including fees (which can be rather high). Many of the boats’ owners also provide water sports equipment for your rental, too.
